This
course develops basic knowledge and skills and provides experience
for the construction industry. Successful students gain a Statement
of Attainment or Certificate I or II in General Construction or
Civil Construction. These are relevant for employment at an operational
level, but lead to further qualifications in trades, supervision
and management levels.
Study in Construction ICF leads to career opportunities in many
occupations:
- Drafting
and reading plans
- Road,
tunnel and bridge construction
- Using
tools and equipment
- Drainage
and pipe laying
- Tiling,
plastering and bricklaying
- General
and civil construction
- Building,
carpentry and formwork
- Site
surveying and foundations
Students
must do a minimum of 35 hours in the workplace for each 120 hours
(2u x 1 yr) of study.
Units of competency in the Construction ICF come from the National
Training Packages for Certificate I and II in General Construction
or Civil Construction. These qualifications are recognised Australia
wide.
