What is TAFE Delivered VET?
Courses for the HSC delivered at TAFE campuses
that provide vocational training in preparation for post-school
employment or further training. Each year about 350 local students
elect to study TDV.
How are TDV courses delivered?
The majority of courses are 2 units x 1 year
in either year 11 or year 12. Subject to student demand some courses
can be done as 2u x 1yr in year 11 followed by another 2u x 1yr
in year 12. Some can be 2u x 2yr (eg Accounting). A student could
do one (or more) 2u courses in year 11 and an entirely different
2u course in year 12.
TDV is generally taught at TAFE in blocks
of about 4 hours on the afternoon of one school day per week. Sometimes
this means a student may miss school lessons.
What qualifications are gained?
TDV courses are recorded on the HSC. Students
also receive recognition from TAFE - from a Transcript of Academic
Record for the modules/competencies completed up to a full AQF /
TAFE Certificate.
Do TDV courses count for the UAI?
If studied as a 2u x 2yr course some do (ICFs
& Accounting & Electronics) see your careers adviser
to plan your HSC.
What courses can be done as TDV?
There are well over a hundred different courses
available - subject to student demand and TAFE facilities. The handbook
titled TAFE DELIVERD VOCATIONAL HSC COURSES FOR SCHOOLS,
lists courses that can be done as TDV.

courses only.

Students pay their own travel costs (if the weekly costs are high
a subsidy may be available on application to school).
How does a student apply for TDV?
Students nominate courses in the year prior
to the class starting. At the beginning of each year the student
is advised by school:
- if the class will run at TAFE
- if the student has a place in the class.
- late applications cannot be processed
