Suggestions to Help with Your Tasks
Question 1
Answer all three parts in your own words.
Question 2
Part A: You should interview a relative or a person known to your family.
Develop a list of questions for your migrant (about 7 to 10)
The questions will enable you to find out about the following:
- Age when they came to Australia
- How they came to Australia
- Reasons for migrating
- Early reactions to Australia
- Establishing work and a home
- Marriage and family
- Dealing with Aussie culture
- Dealing with possible racism
- Attitudes today
Include your list of questions and your summary of the answers to the questions.
OR
Part B: Exercise caution when using the Internet. When you are doing a search add ÒeduÓ
and this will direct you to suitable sites.

Information and statistics are available
from school texts, library books and websites.

Question 4
The three
websites given in Question 4 b. can be accessed through the school network:
Resources – Year 10 History 2006: Web Links.
Suggestion: list
the reasons / arguments favouring asylum seekers, then list policies / actions
adopted by the government. Using these 2 lists then explain what you
consider to be the main issues. You are not required to present a
case for either side. You are required to explain objectively the main
issues.
Question 5
In your answer
consider the cultural mix, social, economic, political, international
repercussions of immigration. Consider many of the issues raised throughout
this assignment.
